Scope of Work: Maintenance of theme park rides
At Gulliver’s Land in Milton Keynes, the maintenance of theme park rides required a meticulously planned operation due to the site’s tight access and unique logistical challenges. The primary task involved lifting out the motor of the Pirate Ship ride for thorough testing and maintenance before its reinstallation. The limited space within the park and the need to protect delicate pathways presented additional complexities.

To address the access challenges, a compact Marchetti MK40 crane was selected for its suitability in confined spaces. A wooden access bridge was temporarily removed to allow the crane to reach the required area. To minimise the impact on the park’s infrastructure, 1m round Nyalcast mats were laid, complemented by 1.5m x 2m protection mats placed beneath them to distribute the crane’s weight. Additional mats were strategically positioned on pathways to reduce ground bearing pressures and prevent damage to the walkways.
